There are 32 different species of Dolphins in the Family Delphinidae.

There are two other closely related families the Platanistidae (river dolphins) and Phocoenidae (Porpoises)​

​​​The most recognized species of dolphin is (tursiops truncatus) the bottlenose dolphin.  We see bottlenose dolphins in aquariums and swimming venues and remember them from Movie and TV shows like "Flipper"​

​The largest member of the family Delphinidae is Orcinus orca) more commonly known as 'killer whales' or Orca.  Male Orcas can grow to over 30ft in length.
